How to prevent moisture caking in imported Soda Ash Light during monsoon storage?
We store bulk Soda Ash Light ($99.2\%$) for detergent manufacturing. During the monsoon season, we notice severe clumping and caking in $25\text{ kg}$ bags. What storage protocols and liner specifications prevent this?

Soda Ash Light (Sodium Carbonate) is highly hygroscopic and readily absorbs atmospheric moisture to form hydrates, leading to hard caking. To mitigate this in humid conditions: Bag Lining Specifications: Ensure your supplier provides multi-wall woven polypropylene (PP) bags equipped with an internal high-density polyethylene (HDPE/PE) inner liner ($\ge 50\text{ microns}$) that is heat-sealed, not just tied. Palletization & Elevation: Never store bags directly on concrete floors. Use wooden or plastic pallets raised at least $15\text{ cm}$ off the ground and keep stacks at least $0.5\text{ m}$ away from external warehouse walls. Stretch Wrapping: Keep unopened pallets shrink-wrapped in plastic film until the exact time of batch production to block ambient moisture exposure.
